The Greater Rochester area, comprising the city of Rochester and its environs, does indeed have a population of around 700,000. It is home to several notable companies, including Kodak, Xerox, and Paychex, among others. While Kodak was historically prominent, its influence has waned in recent years. Additionally, while Rochester has seen economic decline, it still maintains a significant presence in optical manufacturing and enjoys a reputation for its contributions to imaging technology. The city's per capita income has been above the national average, although it has faced challenges in recent decades. The statement about being the fourth-largest export city in the U.S. requires more context and verification. Overall, the area does have a tradition of collaboration between local industries, businesses, and educational institutions.
