NEW Market Report | 2021 Chinese Admission Recruitment Marketing Review
March 07 , 2022

Three years into the pandemic, while studying abroad industry in China has not yet fully recovered, both U.S. institutions and Chinese students are adjusting accordingly.

About 10.78 million Chinese students took the annual National College Entrance Examinations (NCEE), commonly known as Gaokao, in 2021. And the Ministry of Education (MOE) said in November 2021, there were currently more than 9 million university graduates in 2021, and we expect to see 10.76 million new graduates from the country's universities and colleges in 2022. With more and more Chinese families that can afford and are willing to study abroad, marketing and admission recruitment in China become crucial for many education institutions. According to Open Doors latest report, while there is significant decrease in Chinese international students in the U.S. (14.8%), China remains the top origin country (34.7%) for international students. China is still a huge market with great potential.

More than 150 U.S. higher education institutions are actively engaged in the Chinese study abroad industry. Other than those with their own China-based admission officers, most of them are currently represented by or in partnership with Chinese companies to conduct Chinese student recruitment marketing. HYP Global recently put together a Chinese Admission Marketing Report for U.S. higher education institutions, for the purpose of helping our partnered universities, and to facilitate discussions with interested parties.
